U19 Women’s EURO: Germany draw Northern Ireland, Scottland, and Spain

Germany’s Women’s U19s’ will come up against the hosts, as well as Scotland and Spain when they travel to Northern Ireland for the European Championship (August 8th-20th). The draw was made in the city hall in the Northern Irish capital of Belfast. Group B features the Netherlands, France, Italy, and England.

Manager Maren Meinert’s girls open the tournament with a game against the Scottish on August 8th, before facing Spain on August 11th, and then Northern Ireland on August 14th. The semi-final is scheduled to take place on August 17th, with the final being played three days later on August 20th. It remains to be seen exactly where Germany’s opener will be played, but the tournament’s venues include Windsor Park in Belfast, Mourneview Park in Lurgan, Shamrock Park in Portadown, and the Ballymena Showgrounds in Ballymena.

The four semi-finalists of the European Championship automatically qualify for the 2018 U20 Women’s World Cup in France. Should the French progress through to the last four, then both third-placed teams from each group will play against each other on August 17th in order to determine who secures themselves a berth in the 2018 World Cup.
