Three return as one gets his first call-up
The Germany national team squad for the two upcoming Nations League matches will contain three returning players as well as one who is receiving his first call-up. On Thursday, ahead of the fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands, national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann selected Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst for the first time. Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger, FC Bayern München forward Serge Gnabry and Janis Blaswich, goalkeeper for FC Red Bull Salzburg, have all been chosen to return to the 23-man squad. After a discussion with the coach, Rüdiger was not called up for September’s international break following an intense summer of football, using the time off for recuperation instead. Gnabry and Blaswich were both last in the national squad in November 2023.
National team head coach Julian Nagelsmann on calling up Tim Kleindienst: “Tim Kleindienst produced good performances in the Bundesliga for a year with Heidenheim, and he has started well with his new club Borussia Mönchengladbach too. Among other things, he is also very dependable defensively so he has earned it. Niclas Füllkrug’s injury presents a good chance for Tim to prove himself.”
The national squad will meet up in Herzogenaurach on Monday at the Home Ground of adidas, a partner of the DFB. On 11th October, Germany will first face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica (kick-off 20:45 CEST), before they host European Championship semi-finalists the Netherlands in their return fixture in Munich (also kicking-off at 20:45 CEST).
Julian Nagelsmann: “Bosnia and Herzegovina are still yet to have played a home match under their new head coach Sergej Barbarez. I also have the feeling that there were be a lot of passion in that stadium and that the Bosnia and Herzegovina home fans will be fired up, hoping to push their team. There will no doubt be an electric atmosphere. If we perform as we have done in the last couple matches then I'm confident that we'll win this game too, which would be an important victory, especially away from home. We already gave a good showing against the Netherlands in our match in Amsterdam. After a very poor start, we responded well. There are a few things that we want to tweak in order to hopefully win the home match against this strong opponent.”

Goalkeepers: Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim), Janis Blaswich (Red Bull Salzburg), Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart)
