Wormuth calls up nine European U19 Champions

Germany’s U20 national team will face Switzerland and Poland with plenty of U19 European Champions on board. DFB manager Frank Wormuth nominated nine members of Germany’s European U19 Championship winning side for the games in Potsdam and Stettin.

Wormuth’s team includes Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt and Levin Öztunali, Frankfurt’s Marc Stendera and striker Davie Selke (Bremen); they will play Switzerland in Potsdam on November 14th (18:00 CET) and four days later they travel to Stettin to face Poland.

Crunch game against Switzerland

Apart from Selke, who scored six goals for the DFB side in this summer’s U19 European Championships, Brandt, Öztunali and Stendera, Wormuth has also called up fellow U19 European Champions Marvin Friedrich (Schalke 04), Kevin Akpoguma (1899 Hoffenheim), Fabian Holthaus (VfL Bochum), Hany Mukhtar (Hertha BSC) and Felix Lohkemper (VfB Stuttgart).

After two defeats without scoring a goal at the start of this round, the DFB team has recently shown signs of an improving form with a second place finish in the Four-Nations Tournament held in the Netherlands. Victory over Switzerland would see Germany overtake them into third place.
