World Cup winner Kramer will return to Leverkusen in the summer

World Cup winner Christoph Kramer will return to Bundesliga side Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer. “As it stands I will be playing Leverkusen from next summer. Not because I have to, but because I have become completely convinced by their plans,” the 23-year-old told Sport Bild. Kramer, currently on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, had repeatedly explained that he would decide himself where he would play, despite having a contract with Leverkusen until 2017.

“We all know that he belongs to Leverkusen,” said Gladbach’s manager Lucien Favre on Wednesday but a decision has not yet been made. “Christoph has always given everything for this club. I have nothing but positive things to say about him up until now,” explained Favre.

Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Völler always emphasised that Kramer would return to Leverkusen after his loan spell at Gladbach ended. “The situation is clear. There is nothing new to report,” said the Germany's former manager last week.

Before linking up with Gladbach, Kramer had already been on loan from Leverkusen to VfL Bochum between 2011 and 2013.
