World Cup warm-up matches for Women's U20s

The Germany Women’s U20s are due to play warm-up matches in Düsseldorf and Uddevalla between 12th and 18th September, before they begin their specific training for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea. Head coach Maren Meinert has named a 24-strong squad. Ten extra players are on standby.

Two friendlies will be arranged in this period for every team that has qualified for the U20 Women’s World Cup. Germany will play France in Düsseldorf in the first friendly fixture on 14th September. The second friendly will take place three days later on 17th September against Sweden in Uddevalla.

Midfielder Rieke Dieckmann is the most experienced player in the squad with 14 caps. The 19-year-old Bayer Leverkusen player won the Women’s World Cup with Germany two years ago in Canada. Her teammate Rebecca Knaak is also in the squad. She has scored two goals in her last twelve appearances for the Women’s U20s
