Women: warm up for World Cup with 4-0 against England

Women's European champions Germany warmed up for the upcoming 2003 World Cup in fine style with a 4-0 against England in Darmstadt on Thursday.

The German women were too strong for their English opponents, who have not qualified for the World Cup, and three goals in the first half including two for Birgit Prinz emphasised their superiority.

Renate Lingor, with a penalty, and Bettina Wiegmann were Germany's other scorers.

The game serves as a preparation for the upcoming World Cup in the United States (September 20 to October 12), where Germany will meet Argentina, Japna and Canada.
