Wehen Wiesbaden back on top

SV Wehen Wiesbaden have reclaimed top spot in Germany’s third division after securing a 2-0 victory against Chemnitzer FC on matchday 16. Tobias Jänicke teed up Luca Schnellbacher in the 40th minute to put SVWW in front. The result was wrapped up in the 75th minute, when full back Alf Mintzel made it 2-0. Chemnitz’ negative trend continues, as they have only managed one win from their last seven league games and have scored just one goal in the process.

Wiesbaden profited from Arminia Bielefeld’s 1-0 away defeat to Holstein Kiel, regaining the top spot as Bielefeld dropped to second. Marc Heider bagged the only goal of the game following a mistake from DSC keeper Alexander Schmolow in the 36th minute.

Dresden concede late equaliser

Dynamo Dresden and Stuttgarter Kickers shared the spoils after drawing 1-1 in their encounter. Sinan Tekerci scored the opener shortly after the break and things were looking good for Dresden, before Marc Stein bagged a 90th-minute equaliser for the visitors.

Energie Cottbus recorded a comfortable 3-0 home victory against SpVgg Unterhaching. The game was essentially decided within 15 minutes still on the clock. Uwe Möhrle opened the scoring in the 64th minute, Tim Kleindienst doubled Cottbus’ lead a few minutes later and a Fabian Götz own goal in the 74th minute completed the scoring.
