"We benefit from a shared philosophy"

DFB.de: How do things go from here, Mr Sorg? Are you already aware of what your job will be with the senior team?

Sorg: I'm travelling to Berlin today to meet up with the senior team. I've obviously got to grips with our upcoming opponents England and Italy but the fine-tuning will take place there. I think we're well prepared for our upcoming tasks with our current set-up and me as second assistant manager.

Marcus Sorg today begins his post as a second assistant manager of the Germany national team. The U19 manager hands over his role to Guido Streichsbier, who moves from the U18s. In an interview with DFB.de, both coaches spoke about their new tasks, handing over their job to a successor and the upcoming tournaments with their new teams.

DFB.de: Mr Sorg, you're moving to join the senior team's managerial staff. How did you receive the news?

Marcus Sorg: I'm delighted with the trust that Jogi Löw and his team have placed in me. The challenge of working with the first team, preparing them for EURO 2016 and supervising them in France is an exciting task. Joachim's decision shows that our youth and senior sides are very closely entwined. That isn't just true for players, but also for managers.

DFB.de: Mr Streichsbier, you've moved from the U18s to the U19s as a result of Marcus Sorg's call-up to the senior side. What does it mean for your work?

Guido Streichsbier: Similarly to Marcus with EURO 2016 in France, I have a European Championship on home soil coming up, which is huge for us. It's great to be able to accompany the U19s there. Aside from that, the work in all of the youth sides is similar, so I won't have to adjust too much. We benefit from a shared philosophy and the great work done by Hansi Flick. That's not just good for us, but also for the players.

DFB.de: You were the U18 manager for the 2014/15 season and then handed the role over to Marcus Sorg in September. Now the inverse is happening. How should we see this change?

Streichsbier: We gather information about the players over the whole year. We're in constant contact with the club coaches. In the U18 team, who don't have a tournament this year, we can experiment a lot so that the U19 manager can get a solid idea of the players.

Sorg: We're always informing each other about players. Guido was at the 2015 European Championship in Greece and has been away with us on courses this season. The handover is a fluid process and isn't as sudden a change as it would have been with a completely new manager.
