Victory for the Bundesliga sides - only Leipzig are held

Four of the five Bundesliga sides involved in the Saturday matches of the DFB Cup first round have come out on top. FC Schalke 04 beat Verbandsliga side FC 08 Villingen 4-1 and celebrated their first competitive win under new head coach Markus Weinzierl. Borussia Mönchengladbach had more trouble than expected trying to get past cup debutants SV Drochtersen/Assel, but came through in the end with a 1-0 win.

SC Freiburg picked up a comfortable 4-0 victory over SV Babelsberg 03 and 1. FC Köln managed a 7-0 win against BFC Preussen from the Berlin-Liga. RB Leipzig have gone to extra time in the Saxony derby against Dynamo Dresden, after the sides finished 90 minutes with the score at 2-2.

Also in extra time are the games between Viktoria Köln and 1. FC Nürnberg (1-1), Rot-Weiss Essen and Arminia Bielefeld (2-2), Hallescher FC and 1. FC Kaiserslautern (3-3), as well as Würzburger Kickers against Eintracht Braunschweig (0-0).
