VfB manager Veh resigns

Bombshell at VfB Stuttgart: Manager Armin Veh has surprisingly left his position of manager at bottom club VfB Stuttgart after almost three months in charge after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to FC Augsburg. “It’s a really difficult decision to make because the team has a special place in my heart,” said Veh to the club website vfb.de. “Unfortunately, I’ve decided to make it because I feel it is the right decision for both parties.”

The 53-year-old returned to VfB in summer, having led the team to the German title in 2007. His second spell as manager lasted 12 games in which Stuttgart picked up only nine points. In addition to this they were knocked out in the first round of the DFB Cup. “The team are much better than the table suggests – nine points from 12 games is simply not enough,” said Veh. “I am responsible for this. We didn’t have the luck needed to swing tight matches in our favour. I’m certain that the team will start to pick up points sooner rather than later.”
