Unanimous vote for Dr. Zwanziger

The 40th General Assembly of the DFB has re-elected Dr. Theo Zwanziger to a third term as President of the German football association. The vote of the 255 delegates at the assembly in Essen was unanimous.

Dr. Zwanziger joined the DFB chairmanship in 2001. Together with Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, he presided over the DFB from 2004 until 2006, when he became sole president at the General Assembly on September 8, 2006.

“It is a joy to hold this office, it is fascinating, but easy it is not”, said Dr. Zwanziger as he thanked the delegates for their vote. The 65-year old Zwanziger presented a five-step agenda for the upcoming legislative period. Beside striving for successes on the football pitch, Dr. Zwanziger gave highest priority to the efforts for integration and against any form of discrimination.
