UEFA and DFB present new media rights model at Soccerex

Wednesday’s amusing and informative panel discussion „UEFA’s Centralisation of Media Rights“ at Manchester’s Central Convention set the opening of Europe’s largest football congress: The Soccerex European Forum.

While UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA Marketing Director Guy-Laurent Epstein presented the key facts about the new media rights model for the European qualifiers of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the Euro 2016, DFB Marketing Director and DFB Consulting CEO Denni Strich analysed the impact the changes will have from the perspective of German football.

"Our decision with regard to UEFA’s centralisation of media rights was made in the spirit of European football. Together with UEFA we aim at building a strong national team brand in order to also further develop our own 'Mannschaft' brand", said Strich.

In addition to UEFA’s centralisation of media rights, the two-day Soccerex European Forum agenda includes sessions on betting, financial fair play in European football, as well as football and media. Past and present football legends Rio Ferdinand, Patrick Vieira, Gary Neville, John Barnes, Bryan Robson and Gaizka Mendieta along with coaching greats Rafael Benitez, Gerard Houllier and Therry Venables are part of the Soccerex line-up in Manchester.
