U 21 keeps on rolling towards EURO 2013

The german U 21 keeps on winning - four days after beating Greece in a crucial match 5-4, captain Lewis Holtby and company held down Cyprus 3-0 (1-0) on the road and got their seventh win in their seventh qualifying match.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga (19.) scored the first goal for the german team, after they controlled the opponent in the first twenty minutes under difficult circumstances on the ground due to heavy rain. Holtby, Patrick Herrmann and Lasogga missed out on three further opportunities.

EURO-Qualifiers: Cyprus vs. Germany

Cyprus tried more on offense after the break, but Germany defeated well and got its next chance by Holtby (54.). Ilkay Gündogan (72.) scored the second goal after a nice assist by Holtby. Substitute Maximilian Beister closed the game with his goal in the final minute. Germany needs only one win in the three remaining games to secure its spot for the play-off-matches next year.
