The DFB are mourning the loss of Wolfram Wuttke. The former Germany international has died at the age of 53, his ex-club 1. FC Kaiserslautern announced this morning. The former Bundesliga player had recently been in a coma at a clinic in Lünen and passed away in the early Sunday hours.
A technically-gifted midfielder, Wuttke won four caps for the Germany national team and was also a part of the DFB’s Olympic team that won Bronze at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
Wuttke was born in Castrop-Rauxel and played in the Bundesliga at Schalke 04, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburger SV, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Saarbrücken between 1979 and 1993. He also had a spell at Espanyol in Spain, before ending his career in 1993 due to a shoulder fracture.
