Ten-men Frankfurt hold Bayern to 2-2 draw

Eintracht Frankfurt held table toppers FC Bayern München to a 2-2 draw on Bundesliga matchday 7, just the second time the defending champions have dropped points this season. Bayern took the lead twice in Frankfurt, but the hosts were able to reply on both occasions, despite having had Szabolcs Huszti sent off after 65 minutes following his second bookable offense. 1. FC Köln move into second place following their 2-1 win over FC Ingolstadt. Like Bayern and Köln, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim also remain unbeaten this campaign, having claimed a 2-1 victory over SC Freiburg. Schalke 04 were held to a 1-1 draw at FC Augsburg, while Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hamburger SV played out a goalless draw. In the evening kick-off, Werder Bremen continued their upwards curve under new head coach Alexander Nouri, beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 at home.

Bremen took a deserved lead early on through Zlatko Junuzovic, but Hakan Calhanoglu's header leveled the score midway through the first half. Ousman Manneh, who fled to Germany from his homeland Gambia just two years ago, bagged the winner in the second half to keep all three points in Bremen.

Bayern München got off to a great start in Frankfurt's Commerzbank Arena as they took the lead through Arjen Robben after just ten minutes. But the hosts were unfazed and grabbed a deserved equaliser from Huszti shortly before half time. Bayern regained their lead in the second half, when Germany international Joshua Kimmich converted from close range and, shortly after, Frankfurt were then reduced to ten men after Huszti received his second booking. Just when it looked as if Bayern were on course for their sixth win of the campaign, Marco Fabián chested in Timothy Chandler's cross to give the hosts a heavily celebrated draw.

Modeste bags brace

1. FC Köln were once again able to rely on Anthony Modeste in front of goal. The Frenchmen struck twice in the first half to take his tally to seven goals this season. Ingolstadt grabbed a late consolation goal through Lukas Hinterseer, but this wasn’t enough to pull his side off the bottom of the table.

Hoffenheim remain unbeaten this season thanks to goals from Sandro Wagner and Andrej Kramaric. Freiburg equalised in the second half through Florian Niederlechner, but a late penalty handed Hoffenheim all three points at home.

Schalke and Gladbach held to draws

Schalke took the lead in Augsburg with a fine long-range strike from Nabil Bentaleb in the second half. But the hosts levelled with an equally impressive strike from Daniel Baier roughly ten minutes later, denying Schalke a second win of the campaign.

Hamburger SV had plenty of luck on their side in Mönchengladbach. After Cleber Reis was sent off and had conceded a penalty for his foul on Lars Stindl, but fortunately for the visitors HSV keeper René Adler kept out the attempt from André Hahn. Gladbach were given a second opportunity to score from the spot in the second half, but this time Stindl struck the crossbar.
