“Team of the Year”: Six World Cup winners and Reus nominated by UEFA

Six currently active Germany internationals have been nominated for UEFA’s “Team of the Year”. Six World Cup winners have made the list, including former DFB captain Philipp Lahm. Fans can now access the voting system via uefa.com, website of the European Football association, and choose their preferred tactical formation and starting XI.

The entire list is made up of four keepers and twelve outfield players for each position. Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München) made the keeper’s short-list, while team mates Jérôme Boateng and Philipp Lahm and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels are nominated among the best defenders. Toni Kroos (Real Madrid) and Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) can be voted into the “Team of the Year’s” midfield, while Thomas Müller (FC Bayern) has been nominated among the strikers.

Along with the Germany internationals, the Bundesliga is represented by Austrian David Alaba, Moroccan Mehdi Benatia, Spain’s Xabi Alonso, Dutchman Arjen Robben and Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, who all play for FC Bayern München.
