Scoreless tie against Spain not enough for semifinal

The German U 17 national team has tied Spain 0-0 in the last group game of the European Championships in Belgium. While Spain (7 pts.) and France (4 pts.) reach the semifinal, Germany finish third in Group A. With a win an the game for fifth place in Vise (Thursday, 6 P.M.) , Germany would still qualify for the U 17 World Cup in Korea. In the second group game, France and Ukraine played to a 2-2 tie.

The German line-up: Giefer – Rausch, Pachan, Teixeira, Untch (41. Evers) – Jantschke (73. Knoll), Kroos, Funk – Dowidat, Bigalke, Sauerbier (47. Sukuta-Pasu).

Spain's coach Juan Santisteban rested his biggest talent Bojan Krkic from FC Barcelona for the majority of the game against Germany. Still, Spain had the better start, when Ignacio Camacho tested German keeper Fabian Giefer after 12 minutes played. The second half belonged to the team in white and black.
