Schürrle completes first training session in Wolfsburg

André Schürrle brought typical London weather with him to the training ground as he took part in his first session as a VfL Wolfsburg player on Tuesday morning. The new signing completed the 40-minute session and at the end kicked the ball around with a member of the coaching staff.

Today’s away game against Eintracht Frankfurt (20:00 CET) has come too early for the attacker so it’s now hoped he’ll be ready to make his debut against 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday (15:30 CET). “André will participate in normal training from Wednesday,” said sporting director Klaus Allofs. “Then we will see where he’s at.”

Allofs went on to say how he isn’t worried about any negative effects on the player following the uncertainty amid protracted transfer discussions: “The stalling of negotiations towards the end haven’t affected him.” The transfer of the 42-times-capped Germany international from Premier League leaders Chelsea was confirmed shortly before the close of the transfer window on Monday.
