Reus: "Big points" thanks to "superb counter-attack"

After each Bundesliga matchday, DFB.de gathers the quotes from the Germany internationals involved. What do they have to say about their own performances? Today we hear from Marco Reus, Manuel Neuer, Julian Draxler, Ron-Robert Zieler, Mitchell Weiser, and more.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1 FC Bayern München

Manuel Neuer: "We can let in a goal, that happens. That's especially the case in Gladbach as they're an exceptionally strong side. However, we can't throw the game away in such a short space of time like that. We needed to remain calm, above all because there was still time for us to get the equaliser or even turn the game in our favour."

Thomas Müller: "Naturally, we're not pleased. Obviously it wasn't what we'd planned or desired, and now we're travelling home rather unsatisfied. The way the game unfolded is bugging us somewhat."

VfL Wolfsburg 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

Julian Draxler: We pushed for 45 minutes, gave everything, created goalscoring chances and deservedly equalised. To then go back behind in injury time is ridiculous, and we need to shake it off. We had to work so hard to level the game up, and then we kept thinking that the referee was on the verge of blowing the full-time whistle. We switched off a moment too soon and Dortmund took advantage."

Ilkay Gündogan: "A few minutes before we went 1-0 up, I took a knee from Julian Draxler to the back. I was in some pain. I was treated for a bit and managed to make it through to the end of the half. It was better after the break, but the manager took me off anyway as a precaution. I don't want to complain, because Shinji came on to score the winner at the end. It was extremely surprising that we scored again. We're very, very happy with the win. We achieved a small milestone, putting some distance between ourselves and a direct rival. It gives us a good feeling."

Marco Reus: "It was an even game and we finally took the big points! In general, the game was played at a high level. We were the better team in the first half, but Wolfsburg were after the break. They played well, but the loss must be hard to take after getting such a late equaliser. It's also great that we played so well on the counter, which Shinji finished off nicely."

FC Schalke 04 3-1 Hannover 96

Ron-Robert Zieler: "The first half was decent, and I was particularly impressed by our start. You can feel satisfied going in 0-0 at the break. What's obviously frustrating is that we then conceded three goals in the second half and threw away the game. I had hoped we'd be able to build on our strong performances in the previous two games, so it's obviously a shame that a penalty like that had us on the way to defeat. The second goal was also unlucky. It just wasn't meant to be today, especially since we conceded straight after getting ourselves back in the game. I saw some courage at the start, but we went back into our shells a bit towards the end."

Hertha BSC 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Mitchell Weiser: It was good to be back out on the pitch. We started very well, better than any game up until now. It was clear what we're capable of when we click up front. Leverkusen struggled to contain us, and we were rewarded for that. Then came the red card, and we let Bayer back into the game a bit. We did well in the second half, hardly allowed them any chances and in the end deservedly won. It confirmed for us that we can win against a Champions League side. We've worked on that for a while, and now it paid off. Finally."

Julian Brandt: "It was a shame to be a man down after 20 minutes, and I think that it helped to bring about our downfall. We still gave everything and got ourselves level, and we would have done better to try and maintain that, even with 50 minutes left to play. We then conceded an awful goal, and it's obviously hard to come back against a side like Hertha with ten men. We need to do better in the future. Losing is always hard. It was an important game and we could have done with taking three points from it."
