Real's run ends in Sevilla

Real Madrid's record-breaking run of 40 games without defeat has ended. The reigning European champions, with World Cup winner Toni Kroos in their ranks, lost the top-the-table clash in LaLiga following a late winner from Sevilla's January signing Stevan Jovetic. The 2-1 victory puts Sevilla just a point behind the league leaders, while Barcelona sit two points off Real having played a game more.

World Footballer of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo had given his side the lead midway through the second half from the penalty spot, before Sergio Ramos turned the ball into his own net in the 85th - against his old club. Toni Kroos was unable to prevent either goal, having been substituted in the 75th minute.

Real's last defeat came in the Champions League quarterfinal tie against VfL Wolfsburg in in April 2016.

Can’s Liverpool held in Manchester

Emre Can and Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United on Matchday 21 of the English Premier League. Liverpool are now seven points behind current league leaders Chelsea (52). Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the equaliser for Manchester United in the 84th minute. Manchester United had won their previous six league games but dropped two points by drawing on Sunday, leaving them five points off the Champions League places in sixth. World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger was not part of the matchday squad.

Manchester City have a mountain to climb in their pursuit of the Premier League title after losing 4-0 to Everton FC on Sunday evening. It was their biggest loss of the season so far. Former FC Bayern München manager Pep Guardiola’s team are now ten points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku (34’), Kevin Mirallas (47’), Tom Davies (79’) and Ademola Lookman (90+4’) were all target in Everton’s target 4-0 win over Manchester City. Germany national team player Leroy Sané was an unused substitute for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Juventus and Sami Khedira could extend their lead at the top of the table with a win against ACF Fiorentina this evening.
