Popp and Arnold send Germany into semis

Hosting Germany continued their streak of success at the FIFA U-20 World Cup with a 2-0 (1-0) win over Korea DPR in the Quarter-finals at Bochum. At the semis, the team of coach Maren Meinert will meet Korea Republic, that beat Mexico 3-1.

Alexandra Popp scored her seventh goal in the tournament to sent Germany on their way with a first-half strike (43.). Korea DPR were reduced to 10 players when Choe Mi-Gyong was shown a red card for a second booking (53.).

The second goal for the dominating German side did arrive in the 69th minute when Popp passed the ball over her own shoulder into the path of Sylvia Arnold who scored her second goal in the World Cup.
