Lukas Podolski has joined Inter Milan on loan from Arsenal. The 29-year-old will play for the 18-time Italian champions until the end of the season. The deal was confirmed by Arsenal on Monday, although Podolski, who has made 121 appearances for Germany, was already in training with Inter.
According to international media reports, Podolski can permanently join Inter in the summer for 6.5 million euros. The World Champion is also set to make his first appearance for his new club on Tuesday evening, when Inter travel to defending champions and table-toppers Juventus. “He will sit on the bench, as long as the transfer has been completed,” explained Inter coach Roberto Mancini.
The Italian side have been struggling this season, currently sitting eleventh in Serie A.
