Özil helps Arsenal beat Everton

Arsenal remain in the title race, although their hopes of lifting the Premier League trophy in May are quite slim currently. They beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday to end a run of three games without a win in the top flight. The Gunners are, however, 11 points behind surprise leaders Leicester City.

Danny Welbeck (7’) and Alex Iwobi (42’) scored for the Londoners, who were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Barcelona just a few days ago. World Cup winner Mesut Özil helped create the opener and was taken off with 16 minutes to play. Per Mertesacker was an unused substitiute.
