Nürnberg see off Augsburg to remain in Bundesliga

1. FC Nürnberg will remain in the Bundesliga next season after Sunday's 2-0 win at Augsburg gave them a 3-0 aggregate win in their play-off relegation battle.

A first-half goal by midfielder Ilkay Gündogan and a second-half penalty from striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting sealed the second-leg victory over Nürnberg's Bavarian rivals Augsburg after last Thursday's 1-0 away win.

Having finished third from bottom of the Bundesliga last season, Nürnberg have now earned the right to avoid joining Hertha Berlin and Bochum in the second division where Augsburg will remain. Kaiserslautern and St Pauli will replace Hertha and Bochum in the Bundesliga next season after winning promotion.
