Northern Ireland name final squad

Germany’s EURO 2016 opponents Northern Ireland confirmed their final squad for the tournament on Saturday. Wigan Athletic striker Will Grigg, who was the top scorer in League One (England’s third tier) this term has made the cut. “Will can’t stop scoring. He’s in good form and helped his team achieve promotion,” said head coach Michael O'Neill. He netted 25 times for Wigan during 2015/16 and also scored against Belarus yesterday for his country.

Grigg is one of 23 players heading to France. Liam Boyce, Billy McKay, Daniel Lafferty, Michael Smith and Ben Reeves were in the provisional squad but failed to make the cut. “It was a difficult decision but I think it’s the right one,” added O'Neill.
