New Germany Coach Klinsmann recruits fellow striker Bierhoff

After Jürgen Klinsmann was named new Germany coach with a two-year contract to take him to the 2006 World Cup former striker Oliver Bierhoff was appointed deputy to him on Thursday. Klinsmann replaces Rudi Voeller who resigned after Euro 2004.

The former VfB Stuttgart, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Monaco and Tottenham star won the World Cup as a player in 1990 and was a part of the team which won Euro 1996 when Bierhoff came on as a substitute in the final and scored both Germany's goals in a 2-1 extra-time win over the Czech Republic.

Klinsmann, who has been involved in sports marketing in the US since he ended his playing career in 1998, has a training licence.
