Neuer nominated for FIFA World XI

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been nominated for the World XI once again. Chile keeper Claudio Bravo from FC Barcelona, Belgian Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea, Spaniard Iker Casillas from Real Madrid and Italian Gianluigi Buffon from Juventus have all also been nominated alongside the 28-year-old World Champion. Last year, Neuer was chosen as the goalkeeper in the World XI. Bayern’s keeper has also been included on the list of candidates for World Footballer of the Year.

The “FIFA FIFPro World XI” will be put together by ten thousand professional athletes across the world. They will choose one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three strikers. The other lists of nominees will be revealed on Wednesday (26th November), Friday (28th November) and Monday (1st December.) The World XI will be announced on 12th January 2015, at the same time as the FIFA Ballon d’Or in Zurich.
