Neid selects Kämper - Goeßling gets recalled

Germany end the international year with a friendly against England in Wembley Stadium (Sunday, 23rd November, 16:00 CET). After suffering from a foot injury, Lena Goeßling is one of the 24 players called up by Silvia Neid.

Goalkeeper Meike Kämper has been selected for the senior squad for the first time, having impressed during Germany’s success in the U20 World Cup in Canda. Nadine Angerer, who is currently playing for Australian side Brisbane Roar, won’t be making the trip to London.

Silvia Neid: Excitement ahead of Wembley

Head Coach Silvia Neid said: “We are looking forward to a huge match against a strong opposition in a fantastic stadium. It will be the perfect way to sign off the international year. England qualified impressively for the World Cup and have a perfect combination of young and experienced players. England’s 4-0 victory over Sweden at the beginning of August shows that they are one of the best teams in Europe. I expect the game to be extremely interesting and full of great football.”

55,000 tickets have been sold for the game in Wembley Stadium. Engineering work on the London Underground on the day of the match meant that ticket sales were capped at this amount. Silvia Neid’s team link-up on Tuesday, 18th November before travelling to London on Friday, 21st November.
