Nationalteam: Germany beat Thailand 5-1 at Bangkok

Germany beat Thailand 5-1 in a friendly in Bangkok on Tuesday to end their three-game tour of Asia. Kevin Kuranyi (33., 38.) and Lukas Podolski (73., 89.) and Gerald Asamoah (84.) scored for the team of coach Jürgen Klinsmann.

Germany coped well with the sweltering heat in Bangkok following matches in near-freezing conditions in Yokohama and Pusan.

Schalke 04 striker Gerald Asamoah was also on target for the 2002 World Cup runners-up. Sarayut Chaikamdee scored in the 58th minute to give Thailand only fleeting hope after trailing 2-0 at halftime.

Germany overpowered Asian champions Japan 3-0 in their opening game last Thursday but were beaten 3-1 by South Korea on Sunday in a re-run of their 2002 World Cup semi-final.

Defeat in Pusan ended Germany's unbeaten record under Juergen Klinsmann. The three-times World Cup winners have now won five, drawn one and lost one since Klinsmann took over from Rudi Voeller in July.
