Müller, Boateng, Martinez and Alonso extend Bayern contracts

The Bundesliga has 34 matchdays, but the clubs are at work 365 days a year, whether it be on the training ground, in the media division or dealing with contracts. DFB.de keeps fans up to date with all the latest developments.

Bayern München have signed long-term contract extensions with two World Cup winners, Thomas Müller and Jerome Boateng, as well as two other key players. Müller and Boateng, along with Javi Martinez, have signed new deals until 2021, whilst Xabi Alonso has extended his contract until 2017. The announcement was made by the German champions on Friday.

Thomas Müller had his say on the decision: "I'm convinced that FC Bayern will continue to be successful in the coming years. I'm proud and happy to have extended my contract." Jerome Boateng added: "I'm delighted to be able to extend my deal here, and I'm looking forward to the future. I want to achieve more with FC Bayern. It's a huge contract for me and I'm very happy."

Javi Martinez is also satisfied: "I'm proud to have extended my contract to 2021. We're a great team; Munich is the perfect city for a professional footballer, and the people here are very respectful." Xabi Alonso also offered his thoughts: "I'm very happy to have added another year to my contract. My family feel at home in Munich, which is the most important thing."

Bayern have sent out a clear signal with today's announcement. "We're happy to be holding on to these players on a long-term basis," explained club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "Thomas, Jerome and Javi know how to win titles, not to mention the Champions League. With them, we've got quality and stability in our side for the foreseeable future."

Jan-Christian Dreesen, acting chairman of FC Bayern, said of Xabi Alonso's contract extension: "I'm very happy that Xabi is staying with us for at least another year and a half. His experience as a World Cup and Champions League winner has seen him become an important component of FC Bayern.
