Matchday 11: Can Mönchengladbach extend their unbeaten run?

After another week of exciting European action, domestic football returns tonight. Matchday 11 of the 2014/15 Bundesliga kicks-off at 20:30 CET when Tayfun Korkut’s Hannover 96 travel to the Capital to face Hertha BSC hoping to pick up their second away success of the season and build on last weekend’s dramatic late victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. The most interesting clash of the weekend takes place on Sunday evening (17:30 CET) in Signal Iduna Park, where Borussia Dortmund host Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Borussia Dortmund’s intriguing start to the season continued this week. In last weekend’s top match they lost 2-1 to FC Bayern in the Allianz Arena to continue their worst start to the Bundesliga season for 29 years, but they picked up their fourth successive Champions League victory on Tuesday night against Galatasaray. Dortmund have had a tough start to the season and face another challenge on Sunday when Lucien Favre’s Borussia Mönchengladbach come to town. Lucien Favre will be celebrating his 200th game as a Bundesliga manager in the fixture and will be hoping his side can maintain their unbeaten record this season. Gladbach are unbeaten in 18 matches across three competitions and have impressed on all fronts but Dortmund will be hoping former Fohlenelf star Marco Reus can inspire them to victory.

There are six games on Saturday, which will help shape the table at both ends. Four of these matches kick-off at 15:30 CET: Bayer 04 Leverkusen host Mainz, who have suffered two successive defeats having not lost any of their first eight Bundesliga games this season. Bayern München will be hoping to complete a perfect week when they visit Eintracht Frankfurt. Having beat Dortmund last weekend and and AS Roma in the Champions League, Bayern are full of confidence and travel to the Commerzbank-Arena in great form. SC Freiburg host the ever improving Schalke 04, whilst TSG Hoffenheim will be hoping to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend against Borussia Mönchengladbach when they host 1. FC Köln. FC Augsburg host the surprise package of the season SC Paderborn in the afternoon’s other match.

Saturday’s evening match (18:30 CET) sees Werder Bremen, who have won both games under new coach, Viktor Skripnik play VfB Stuttgart. Sunday’s other game (9th November, 15:30 CEST) sees VfL Wolfsburg take on Hamburger SV. Wolfsburg have won their last five Bundesliga games and are unbeaten in six against Hamburger SV, a run which includes two wins and four draws.
