London calling: DFB women meet up ahead of England game

The DFB women’s team have something quite special planned to end their year: On Sunday, Silvia Neid’s team will play against England at Wembley (16:00 CET). A perfect setting for a tough opponent.

The English Football Association have already sold 55,000 tickets for the game and have had to cap ticket sales at that figure. Due to work on the underground near the stadium, the FA believes that they would not be able to cope if there were a higher number of fans.

First training session after medical checks

The DFB women’s team is excited ahead of the game that will bring an end to a successful year. After winning the Algarve Cup in March and securing a place at the World Cup in 2015 with ten wins from ten games, the focus has now turned to the tournament in Canada next year, which will be held from 6th June to 5th July 2015 in six Canadian cities.

The women’s national team met up today ahead of their final game of 2014. After the obligatory medical checks, Silva Neid will lead her side out onto the training ground this afternoon for their first training session. Six training sessions will take place before the side travels to London.

Sandrock and Jones to accompany team

At 14:35 CET on Friday, the team will take off from Düsseldorf on their flight to London Heathrow. Two more training sessions have been scheduled for Saturday in the English capital, with the final training session taking place on Saturday afternoon at Wembley.

The team will travel home on Monday and will be accompanied by head of delegation and DFB General Secretary Helmut Sandrock and DFB Director Steffi Jones. Nearly two weeks later, something else exciting has will take place. On 6th December at 12:00 local time, the draw for the World Cup will be made in Ottawa.
