Löw to name preliminary World Cup squad on May 15th

The German national football museum will be the location where Joachim Löw announces his preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup. Germany head coach Joachim Löw will name which members of Die Mannschaft will make the cut on 15th May 2018 in Dortmund. On May 23rd, the national team’s training camp in Eppan will commence and will mark the official start of Germany’s World Cup preparations. FIFA’s official deadline for the final squad, consisting in total of 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers, is on June 4th.

Bierhoff: “We want to write World Cup history again”

Oliver Bierhoff, Die Mannschaft’s official co-ordinator, said: “We want to write World Cup history once again in Russia and that’s why we’ll be in the football museum. We’re all hoping to be part of another successful chapter this summer.”

The museum’s director, Manuel Neukirchner added: “On May 15th, the footballing world will focus its attention on this museum. We want to make the squad announcement with the DFB run as smoothly as possible. The World Cup squad announcement marks the start of the World Cup summer and we’re looking forward to it.”
