Leipzig's Rani Khedira withdraws

Rani Khedira has withdrawn from the Germany U21 squad. The midfielder, who plays for second-division side RB Leipzig, was already struggling with the injury when he linked up with the team, where he received further treatment. An overload to the left metatarsus has ruled the 20-year-old out of the upcoming internationals. He will continue treatment back in Leipzig.

Consequently, the younger brother of World Cup winner Sami Khedira, won’t feature in the games against the Netherlands (Thursday, 13th November, 18:00 CET, Ingolstadt) and the Czech Republic (Tuesday, 18th November, 17:30 CET, Prague). Both games act as preparation for the 2015 U21 European Championship, which will also be held in the Czech Republic.
