Lea Schüller handed late call-up for U20s World Cup

SGS Essen’s Lea Schüller has been handed a late call-up for the upcoming U20s World Cup in Papua New Guinea (13th November-3rd December) by head coach Maren Meinert. The 18-year-old forward is back in the team after replacing Nina Ehegötz.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Nina Ehegötz ruptured her cruciate ligament last Sunday in her side’s women’s Bundesliga match against MSV Duisburg, although she did not sustain the injury as a result of any challenge from an opposition player. The 19-year-old winner of the Fritz Walter medal now faces a long period on the sidelines.

The German national team travel to Papua New Guinea from Frankfurt on 6th November. Maren Meinert’s team take on Venezuela on 14th November in their first group game.
