Kroos and Khedira win Club World Cup with Real

World Cup winners Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira have crowned their successful year in football with a further title. The two Germany internationals won the final of the Club World Cup 2-0 against ‘Pope’s club’ CA San Lorenzo from Argentina in the showpiece in Morocco on Saturday evening.

Sergio Ramos’ header from a Kroos corner kick and a Gareth Bale strike handed the Champions League winners their first Club World Cup trophy. Real, who won the Intercontinental Cup, until it’s renaming in 2004, in 1960, 1968 and 2002, replace the German record champions Bayern München, who triumphed in 2013.

Kroos and Ramos proved to be a dynamic duo yet again: As the former Munich man did in the semi-final, he set up a Ramos goal again, this time with a corner. Welshman Bale profited from a goalkeeping error from Sebastián Torrico when his shot trickled underneath the keeper. The Spaniards then controlled the game against the Copa Libertadores champions. Khedira didn’t feature in the final.

Mustafi and ter Stegen celebrate wins

Shkodran Mustafi and his FC Valencia team remain in and amongst the top group of teams in Spain’s Primera División following a 1-0 win against new boys’ CD Eibar. Paco Alcácer scored the decisive goal for Valencia on the half-hour mark, who now climb to fourth place with 31 points to their name. Mustafi played the full 90 minutes. Marc-André ter Stegen had to sit on the bench in Barcelona’s 5-0 win pf Cordoba.
