Klose voted "GQ Man of the Year"

Another award for Miroslav Klose: On Thursday the World Champion was named the 16th recipient of the “Sport” branch of the “GQ Man of the Year” award, in front of 800 invited guests in Berlin’s Komische Oper. The 36-year-old was accompanied by his wife Sylwia in the German capital to personally pick up the award.

Other winners included Lenny Kravitz (“International Musician”), Adrian Brody (“International Film Star”), Elyas M’Barek (“Domestic Film Star”) and Donal Sutherland who won the “Legend” award to honour his lifetime achievements.

"Miroslav Klose created football history"

"As a result of winning the World Cup, we could have chosen to have a collective Man of the Year, honouring every member of the squad,” explained GQ Editor José Redondo-Vega. “However, we decided to choose one player who made a big impression on the tournament. Thanks to breaking the World Cup goalscoring record, Miroslav Klose created football history. He has continually focussed on his sport and not got involved in the showbiz side of the game.”

The “GQ Man of the Year” awards honour people who have performed well in a variety of fields including film, music, politics, sport, fashion and culture. Previous winners of awards include Sir Ben Kingsley, David Beckham, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Sir Bob Geldof, Giorgio Armani, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Michael Schumacher and Wladimir Klitschko.
