Khedira scores in Juventus victory

Barcelona race out of the traps

Goals from Luis Suarez (3), Lionel Messi (2) and Arda Turan helped Barcelona beat Real Betis 6-2 on Saturday to head to the top of the Primera Division table. Marc-André ter Stegen missed the game through injury. He damaged his left knee in training a few weeks ago and hasn’t fully recovered yet.

World Cup winner Sami Khedira and summer signing Gonzalo Higuain grabbed the goals as Juventus got their Serie A campaign off to a strong start on Saturday evening. The Old Lady beat Fiorentina 2-1. Khedira put them in front before the break, but Nikola Kalinic equalised after 70 minutes.

Higuain came off the bench after 66 minutes, replacing former Bayern star Mario Mandzukic, and hit the winner soon after. Paul Pogba’s place in the Juventus midfield was taken by Mario Lemina.

Roma claim victory without Rüdiger

Germany international Antonio Rüdiger was injured as Roma beat Udinese 4-0 in the Stadio Olimpico. Their goals came courtesy of Diego Perotti (2), Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah.

Rüdiger damaged a cruciate ligament during the DFB-Team’s pre-EURO training camp and is not expected to return to action until late Autumn.

Gündogan and Sané absent as City go top

Four-time English Champions Manchester City beat Stoke City 4-1 in Saturday's lunchtime fixture to jump top of the Premier League table.

Former Bayern manager Pep Guardiola had to manage without the services of Ilkay Gündogan and Leroy Sané. Neither of the Germany internationals were included in the matchday squad after their respective injuries.

Sergio Agüero and Nolito both scored braces for City, with Bojan grabbing one back for Stoke City. Aguero has now scored six goals in three competitive appearances under Guardiola.

Leicester draw with Arsenal

Champions Leicester City and Arsenal played out a goalless draw on Saturday evening. Mesut Özil came off the bench after 73 minutes for the Gunners. Robert Huth played the full 90 for the Foxes but Ron-Robert Zieler was an unused substitute.
