Karlsruhe close to stay in Second Bundesliga

Second Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC are close to stay in the league after a 1-1 (0-0) in the first leg of relegation at Third League club SSV jahn Regensburg. The better position is in the hands of the 16th placed of the second German flight before the second leg on Monday (8.30 pm).

Selcuk Alibaz had put the underdog in front with a penalty shot after 58 minutes, but Pascal Groß was the saviour for the team of coach Markus Kauczinski. First the midfielder had found his master in Jahn-goalie Michael Hofmann in minute 63 after a powerful shot from just outside the penalty box. Thirteen minutes later he was on target far better and netted in nearly from the same position to make it 1-1 (76th).
