Kaiserslautern and Nürnberg stop underdogs

Bundesliga sides 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Nürnberg completed the quarterfinal of the German DFB Cup, when they beat Third-league teams respectively on Wednesday.

Kaiserslautern came back from a goal down to win 4-1 (0-1) at TuS Koblenz, who had earlier on knocked out Second Bundesliga teams Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC Berlin. Nürnberg prevailed at Kickers Offenbach 2-0 (1-0) at the famous Stadium "Am Bieberer Berg".

In Koblenz Thomas Klasen put the outsiders ahead after 17 minutes, just for Lautern to thrash the lead in eleven minutes time after the break. Srdjan Lakic had missed a penalty after 37 minutes, but corrected his failure with three goals in the 54th, 59th and 65th minute. Adam nemec had made it 3-1 after 64 minutes.

In Offenbach it was Belgian international Timmy Simons, who secured Nürnberg a spot in the next round with two goals in minutes 20 and 66. The "Club" will now travel to Schalke 04 on January 25, Kaiserslautern play at Second Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg a day later.
