Jonathan Tah: "Clean sheet at the back, converted our chances up front"

After every matchday, DFB.de gathers the thoughts of Germany youth and senior internationals. Today, after Bundesliga matchday 27, we have quotes from Jonathan Tah, Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka, Kevin Volland and lots more.

VfB Stuttgart 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen

Jonathan Tah: We put in a fantastic performance. It was important we kept a clean sheer and put our chances away up front. We’re happy to be taking the three points home from Stuttgart.

Julian Brandt: Not just me but the whole team was really on top of their game today. We played so well. I was able to get a goal and an assist - it could have been more, but I’m happy with what I achieved.

Timo Werner: "It was a tough game for us. Leverkusen never really allowed us to get into the match. Basically they did just what we had set out to do: quickly switch the play and hit on the break! Having gone behind early on, it was always going to be tough to get back into the game against such a well-organised side. We must continue now. We can only look ahead and in fourteen days, there will be important points up for grabs in Darmstadt."

FC Augsburg 1-3 Borussia Dortmund

Mats Hummels: This game was proof again of how mature we are. Going behind 0-1 was annoying, but we did stay calm after conceding and we knew exactly that we had enough time to get back into the game. Augsburg concentrated on defending nearly throughout the whole game, that is why it was not easy. But we played into the spaces we know we can and we knew that there would be a stage when Augsburg can't defend anymore. Everyone - including me - made some little mistakes in the first half, after the break we concentrated more and more and played the ball much better. After we made it 3-1 we were brilliant in the way we let the ball and the opponent run.

1. FC Köln 0-1 FC Bayern München

Manuel Neuer: “We had to work a little harder to wrap up this 1-0 victory, but on the whole we defended well as a team and allowed few major chances. It’s a very important win for us. The international break will do us some good now.

Jonas Hector: We wanted to be compact and not allow them a lot of chances. Aside from when they scored the goal we did this quite well. We were just caught napping for a bit, and a team of Bayern’s quality will always punish you for that. In the second half we were really good. We believed in our ability more, attacked them more and took more risks. With a bit of luck we would have equalised.

Hamburger SV 1-3 1899 Hoffenheim

Kevin Volland: We’re on a good path. The win today has done us a lot of good. Knut Kircher is one of the best refs in Germany. In my opinion it was a red card. We spoke about it and he explained his decision tomorrow. Luckily we converted the penalty. Overall it was not our best performance. We discussed that at half time. We needed to score more goals, but didn’t take advantage of enough counters.

FC Schalke 04 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Leon Goretzka: I think that games like this aren't so uncommon in football. The better team can often leave the pitch as the loser. That's what makes sport so exciting. Luck was definitely on our side. Our first goal reminded me of my youth, when I'd often play pinball on my computer. For my goal, I brought out my hammer of a left foot (laughs). Fun aside, it was obviously a fortunate goal. We also had Ralf Fährmann to thank at the end, who showed once again what a fantastic goalkeeper he is. We have to extend our thanks to him. It was a lucky win, no question. Gladbach are a very good side. They played exceptionally well and proved that they've got quality.

VfL Wolfsburg 1-1 SV Darmstadt 98

André Schürrle: We keep talking about third place, but keep sliding further and further down the table. We have to look at our performance first and foremost. It’s no use to be talking about how we still want to qualify for the Champions League every week.

Maximilian Arnold: Obviously we always want to win. Particularly at home we’ve been putting in great performances and enjoying some good results. That’s why we’re all very disappointed with today’s draw.

Eintracht Frankfur 1-0 Hannover 96

Marc Stendera: The win was extremely important for our mentality. We need to keep believing in ourselves and keep working hard. We’re not interested in our position at the moment; the important thing is to keep bringing in the points.

Ron-Robert Zieler: We aren’t reaching our potential and that’s demoralising. Last week we said that it’ll take a miracle to survive – we’ll need an even bigger one now.
