Joachim Löw: "There was nothing wrong with that performance."

Germany made it seven game in a row unbeaten in England as Joachim Löw’s side drew 0-0 at Wembley and the coach was more than satisfied with his team’s performance, particularly in the first half. DFB.de gauges the reaction from London.

JOACHIM LÖW ON...

... the performance of both teams: Both teams were disciplined at the back and didn’t give a lot of space away. We were good for long periods of the first half, got forward quickly and our attacks had purpose. We had three good opportunites, and that was missing in the second half.

... Halstenberg, Gündogan and Hummels: There was nothing wrong with the performance tonight even though it wasn’t easy after just two short training sessions and playing in front of 90,000 people at Wembley. Ilkay Gundogan did his job very well, you could see what he brings but he needs more game time to get into a rhythm. Sané was a threat going forward and so was Timo Werner. Mats Hummels was sensational at the back.

... potential to improve: If I’m looking at areas to improve I’m talking about that second half. Thinking about next year we will have to remember to get forward quicker after winning the ball. We are a possession team, which has not yet come into its own. We lost the ball too many times tonight, and you cannot be doing that against quality teams.

...Tuesday’s game with France: I’m going to play Mario Götze on Tuesday. I think they will be a slightly tougher test than England. England have improved, especially with so many young players. They have changed their style and they play with more care, but France has some world class players in midfield, with incredible pace and more routes to goal.

... line-up against France: As I said, Mario Götze will get a run out on Tuesday. There will be a few changes. We want to spread the workload for the boys because many of them are in the middle of two-game weeks. We have to think ahead. We can try and test out more things this year. The specific match details can be dealt with in training when we are together for a longer period of time.

ILKAY GÜNDOGAN: I’m very happy to have made my international comeback tonight. It’s a great feeling. I think I found my rhythm fairly quickly. I did the simple things well and that helped me get into the game.

LEROY SANÉ: We had good chances to win the game. We attacked really well in the first half. Personally, I’m a little annoyed not to have taken one of my chances. I hope I can do better in the next games.

MARCEL HALSTENBERG: I’m delighted to have made by debut in Germany colours. It was a lot of fun playing in front of a huge Wembley crowd and getting to know my new teammates. I’m a very happy late bloomer tonight.
