Leaders Eintracht Braunschweig suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday with a 1-3 at Energie Cottbus. Runners-up 1. FC Kaiserslautern cut their deficit to three points by winning 1-0 at FSV Frankfurt.

Relegated 1. FC Köln celebrated the second home win on Friday. The team of coach Holger Stanislawski won the duel of the former first division clubs against VfL Bochum 3-1 (2:0).
