Hannover and Mainz lose first points

On Sunday both Hannover 96 and FSV Mainz 05 lost their immaculate record and missed the chance to got to the top of Bundesliga after round three. While Hannover had to content themselves with a 1-1 (1-0) against promoted Hertha BSC Berlin, Mainz lost 2-4 (2-0) against Schalke 04 after being two goals up at half-time.

Netherlands star Arjen Robben produced another eye-catching performance on Saturday as Bayern München hammered Hamburg 5-0 at home while champions Borussia Dortmund got back to winning ways on round three of the Bundesliga.

Bayern are up to second in the table behind surprise early leaders Borussia Mönchengladbach after racing into a 2-0 lead inside 17 minutes. First Daniel van Buyten buried his header from a Robben free-kick on 13 minutes and then French winger Franck Ribery danced around defenders to score the second. Robben ended the game as a contest by making it 3-0 on 34 minutes. The other goals scored Mario Gomez (56.) and Ivica Olic (80.).

Having suffered a shock defeat at Hoffenheim last week, defending champions Dortmund enjoyed a 2-0 win at home to Nürnberg. A well-timed pass from Mario Götze on 50 minutes found Poland striker Robert Lewandowski and fired home before Kevin Großkreutz added the second on 80 minutes.

Werder Bremen earned a dramatic 5-3 win at home to Freiburg as Papiss Demba Cisse scored twice for the guests, but ended on the losing team after midfielder Aaron Hunt netted an 86th-minute penalty and Wesley scored in added time.

Newly-promoted Augsburg are still looking for their first ever Bundesliga win after they lost 2-0 at Hoffenheim, while the guests picked up their second straight win.

In the duel on Saturday evening 1. FC Köln and 1. FC Kaiserslautern tied. It was the first point for the team of coach Stale Solbakken.

On friday a perfect Borussia Mönchengladbach stormed on the top of the table for now. The team of coach Lucien Favre won 4-1 against VfL Wolfsburg and has seven points after three games. It is the best start of Gladbach since 1995.
