Lena Goeßling, Hasret Kayikci and Melanie Leupolz will be unable to feature in the Germany Women’s National Team’s upcoming matches. They have withdrawn from the squad, meaning they will miss the matches against Austria on Saturday 22nd October (14:15 CEST) in Regensburg, and against the Netherlands in Aalen on Tuesday 25th October (16:10 CEST). Goessling has suffered a bone edema and Kayikci has a knee problem has departed the team with a knee problem.
Leupolz was unable to participate on Monday after picking up tonsillitis. In order not to jeopardise the recovery process, the Bayern Munich midfielder will leave the team, per a consultation with the medical department.
Head coach Steffi Jones has called up VfL Wolfsburg’s Julia Simic in place of those departed.
