Goalless draw between Augsburg and Köln

FC Augsburg missed out on the chance to secure their Bundesliga survival with two games to spare on matchday 32. After three wins on the bounce, Markus Weinzierl’s team played out a goalless draw against already safe 1. FC Köln, despite an extra man for much of the second half following Matthias Lehmann’s second yellow.

Another three points would have all but guaranteed a sixth season of Bundesliga football for Augsburg, who now have a 37 points leaving them at least four points ahead of the relegation play-off spot as Werder Bremen (31 points) and VfB Stuttgart (33) face each other this coming Monday.
