Gladbach in Pot 3 for UCL group-stage draw

Borussia Mönchengladbach will be facing another tough test in the group phase of the Champions League this season, although they find themselves in Pot 3 this time around. Nevertheless, the Foals will be full of confidence heading into the draw following last night’s comprehensive 6-1 win (9-2 aggregate) over BSC Young Boys in the play-offs. The draw will take place at 18:30 CEST.

Bayern München are automatically placed in Pot 1 having won the Bundesliga last term. As a result, the 2013 Champions League winners will avoid a group-stage clash against defending champions Real Madrid and Spanish league winners Barcelona.

Bayer Leverkusen will join Borussia Dortmund in Pot 2, where both North Rhine-Westphalia teams will avoid fixtures against the likes of last year’s finalists Atlético Madrid, FC Sevilla and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Pots

Pot 1: Bayern München, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Leicester City, Juventus, Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain, CSKA Moscow

Pot 2: Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Atlético Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City, FC Sevilla, FC Porto, Napoli

Pot 3: Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Basel, Tottenham Hotspur, Dynamo Kiev, Olympique Lyon, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Club Brugge

Pot 4: Celtic FC, AS Monaco, Besiktas, Legia Warsaw, Dinamo Zagreb, Ludogorets Razgrad, FC Copenhagen, FC Rostov
