Gladbach and Wolfsburg hoping for good draws

All eyes in Wolfsburg and Mönchengladbach will be on Lake Geneva this afternoon (from 13:00 CET), with the first knockout draw of this season’s Europa League taking place in Nyon. Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg are two Bundesliga sides represented in the draw. We’ll also know their possible opponents for the round of 16.

32 teams have qualified for the second round with 24 of those coming via the Europa League group stages. Eight third-placed sides from the UEFA Champions League group stages will complete the draw. In the knockout round, which is scheduled for 19th and 26th February 2015, Gladbach are one of the seeded teams.

The Europa League draw will take place in the following manner: The 12 group winners and four best third-placed sides from the UEFA Champions League are seeded, with the 12 runners-up in the Europa League groups and remaining four third-placed sides from the Champions League unseeded.
