Germany Women in quarter-final against China

The Germany Women’s team will face China in the quarter final of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, after their 2-1 loss to Canada last night. Following a 0-0 draw with Sweden, China finished the group stage in second place behind Brazil in Group E, and will now face Silvia Neid’s Germany team on Friday evening (21:00 CEST).

World champions USA finished the group stage as group winners. The tournament favourites managed a 2-2 draw with Columbia on the third matchday, to stay top of the table. France could not catch the Americans after a 3-0 win over New Zealand, and are now up against Canada in the quarter-final. The USA will play Sweden and hosts Brazil will face Australia, after drawing 0-0 with South Africa.
