Germany win EC qualifier

The German Women's National Team won their second Group 4 qualifier for the European Championship 2009 on Thursday in Wales 6-0 (3-0). At Bridge Meadow Stadium in Haverfordwest Birgit Prinz (8', 20', 87') scored three times, Kerstin Stegemann (45'), Kerstin Garefrekes (81') and Martina Müller (85') also hit the target.

The team of coach Silvia Neid got their campaign off to a flying start by defeating the Netherlands 5-1 last month. 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam striker Isabel Kerschowski celebrated her debut for the holders against Wales entering the game at the beginning of the second half.

The six group winners qualify directly for the EC finals in Finland with the host automatically included. The second-placed and the four best third-placed teams of the qualification will play off five more places.
